Hi all,
My name is Jess and I'm currently in my 3rd year of a Fine Art degree. In late 2005, while I was living in London and traveling around Europe I was diagnosed with Leukaemia...I couldn't return to Sydney for treatment as the caner was advanced (the doc estimated that I'd had it for at least a month before being officially diagnosed and would have died if it wasn't discovered within a week!)
I did all the preliminary treatments - 8 months of being in isolation and when I was finished that initial phase I was allowed to continue outpatient treatments. In August 2006 I caught a simple fungal infection that spread from my lungs to my brain. I was in a coma in the ICU for 2 weeks and spent 3 months in intensive neuro rehabilitation, learning how to function again from scratch.
These days I'm generally content to sit and work on my art studies and I'm getting pretty good marks so that makes me happy.
I'm interested in making some new friends who understand a bit more about certain health issues and complications, so I'd really like to chat to some of you out there.
